Synopsis

In SST, technology is integral to the core curriculum that is the foundation that allows new ways of teaching, learning and social interaction to take place. While backbone infrastructure (such as robust network, accessibility to the internet and availability of devices) is important to create the physical conditions, it is the approach that determines the kind of learning experience we create and hence, the learning ecosystem that every SST student immersed in.

In this presentation, we will share our approach and what we take into consideration when designing the 1-to-1 ICT-enabled learning experiences. Through examples of learning activities, we will share how we leverage on a range of ICT tools (e.g. Blogs and Google Apps) to engage students actively inside and outside the classroom. The examples will also illustrate how we could “borrow” ideas from other subject disciplines and creatively incorporated them into our lesson designs.

Approach on Use of ICT

In a nutshell, these are the broad categories of platforms and applications we use in SST.

The choice of technological platform and applications is largely based on the objectives and nature of the learning programme.
